Description:
One handy hint is that green onions, scallions, can be planted from the ones bought at the store. They will then grow to where you can cut off the tops and let them regrow. This can be done up to 8 times. When they start to get tough, treat them like leeks. TheDude keeps at least three pots of green onions growing so there is always a ready supply. In this video, TheDude tries it for the first time and gets a little wrong. At first he says to cut off the bottom 1.5 inch to plant. Actually .5 - 1 inch works fine. Also, be sure to work the roots around so they are under the onion and mostly pointing down.
